ERICA WALKER, PhD
Approach
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice. My work is devoted to the pursuit of emotional health and well-being. Life’s challenges are seen as an opportunity to invite self-reflection, promote acceptance, and inspire change. Though therapy and consultation, I encourage children and their families to express themselves, nurture their strengths, build skills and enhance their understanding. My practice serves youth ages 4 to 21 and their parents.
My approach with youth and their families is individualized, sensitive to their developmental needs, strengths-based, and collaborative. Services are informed by my training in child development and child and adolescent mental health. My goal is to foster a safe, respectful, and warm environment to facilitate the expression of concerns and create meaningful changes. The interventions utilized will incorporate evidenced based treatments that are goal directed and sensitive to your culture, beliefs, and values.
I am also devoted to supporting the concerns of your whole child. In addition to providing professional support, my role includes providing resources, tools, constructive feedback and connecting you with appropriate community partners. In my experience working with youth and their families, the individuals with the best outcomes have a team of providers working together to meet their needs. If from my work with your child it is felt that he/she could benefit from additional services provided by other professionals (e.g., pediatrician, occupational or educational specialist, nutritionist), together we can work to find the appropriate community partner.
