Psychological Assessments

Evaluations are appropriate when a child is suspected of having a specific problem or disorder. These referrals often come from concerned parents, teachers, pediatricians, or childcare providers who see signs or symptoms of a particular disorder.

I offer the following types of evaluations:

Psychological Evaluations

A psychological evaluation is the examination of a child’s behavior, personality, capabilities, and socio-emotional adjustment. This type of evaluation is often used for clarification of diagnosis or to gain a more in depth understanding of a child or adolescent's emotional functioning.

Psycho-educational Evaluations

A psychoeducational evaluation usually includes an assessment of a child’s social history, intellectual abilities, and basic academic skills (reading, mathematics, writing) as well as a psychological screening. The results of this type of evaluation provides information about learning disabilities and psychological distress that impact a child’s learning or functioning.

The testing process consists of the following sessions:

Intake- a one hour session that is used to gain understanding about the presenting concern, goals of the client and family, as well as the appropriate level of testing/assessment and treatment.

Testing- three to six hours of direct testing depending on the referral concern and age of your child.

Feedback- the family is presented with verbal feedback and recommendations, as well as a comprehensive written report.
